If you fancy a day out in the surrounding countryside, Skegness is the perfect base from which to discover Lincolnshire’s Poacher Country. During your visit you will discover beautiful, typically English countryside, peaceful woodlands, picturesque villages, traditional market towns and the vibrant, historic city of Lincoln.

AlfordAlford
This ancient market town once served the farming community with its cattle market and produce auction. The lively market still continues every Tuesday. Alford now features the Craft Market on Tuesdays and Fridays through the Summer. The main feature of Alford is the newly restored Manor House which not only is fascinating to look around with walkman guided tours but also serves wonderful light meals and teas. However, if you fancy a pint of Real Ale and meal, visit the Half Moon Hotel and Restaurant.

Spilsby
Spilsby is situated between the Lincolnshire Wolds and the Fens. The town is host to a lively market each Monday where many things are bought and sold, ranging from vegetables and game to household goods. Lincolnshire's most famous explorer, Sir John Franklin - who discovered the North-West Passage - was born in Spilsby in 1768, and a bronze statue of him stands in the Market Place.

Lincolnshire Wolds
The rolling hills of Lincolnshire are very attractive; great for holidays, biking, horse riding, walking and living. We are a farming people that have raised sheep, cattle and pigs for generations.

The Lincolnshire Wolds are the highest point in eastern England between Yorkshire and Kent. They are designated an Area of Outstanding National Beauty. The fertile chalk hills have been shaped by agriculture for more than 4,000 years.

Alfred Lord Tennyson was born and raised in Somersby which is in the heart of the Lincolnshire Wolds and not far from Spilsby, the birthplace of Sir John Franklin.
